Saint Joseph Oratory
Come and make a stop at the Saint Joseph Oratory, the first big symbol of Montreal that you can see on your way to Downtown Montreal from the airport.
This masterpiece of architecture is build on the west side of the Mount Royal. Its huge dome is the third in the world in size and the building is the largest church in Canada.
Don’t miss to face this Roman Catholic pilgrimage and motivate yourself to climb the 283 steps from the Queen Mary Avenue up to the parvis of the oratory. Some pilgrims are used to climb the steep slope on their knees, one step at a time.
When at the right period of the year (between June up to September) we strongly suggest you then take the guided tour to explore the inner and outside part of this majestic construction. The tour is 90 minutes long and worths spending a very affordable fee of 5$.
